Here is a shoot I styled in the October issue of ellements magazine (@ellementsmagazine.) It was my first collaboration with photographer Maja Buck (@majabuck) and h/mua Lisa Gleeson (@lisargleeson)…..to say the least, it was a major success!!
Our riveting model, Alex Hansen (@_alexjulianna_) had recently returned from walking fashion week in Singapore so most of the shoot consisted of me prodding her to tell me about her experiences..whoops.
We’re embodying prefall here..a mix of feminine and structured fabrics, skin bearing silhouettes accompanied by structured mid-length jackets and ornate embroidery/flora. I’m incorporating metallics within the rich jewel tones to loan some depth and elevation. Everyone feels dressed up in gold, right?
The proportions are so important in prefall/fall outfitting right now. We’re wanting to feel warm but not smothered..I tried to balance the amount of skin shown to the amount covered to convey the fall-ish climate we have here in texas. if you can call mid 70’s fall weather…sigh.. It’s all about the assembly; differing cropped lengths in tops and bottoms with long layers or opposing components, slouchy paired with structured menswear silhouettes, and a play on going all-in with neutrals or full blown print on print. The gaucho has made a shining return and is being featured in almost every styling aesthetic.. Every customer from the TOPSHOP to the Alexander Wang girl is at home in a cropped gaucho this season.
Below are some images from the book! enjoy=)
